2012 ‘Ellie the Electron’ Exhibition – Upcoming event

The ‘Ellie the Electron’ Exhibition, which is scheduled for later this year, will use poetry and art to transport the visitor into the quantum world of ‘Ellie the Electron’ through an interactive experience. The exhibition was invited by the University of York, and will be running for 2 weeks at The Ron Cooke Hub, Heslington East campus.

More details to follow …

Being ‘Ellie the Electron’ 2011

The ‘Ellie the Electron and the Quantum Circus’ pantomime has played (by invitation) at the following UK science festivals and events:

2011 Festivals/events

– Science City York – Ron Cooke Hub, The University of York

– Manchester Science Festival – MOSI

– University of York – Teaching and Learning conference

Ellie the Electron and the Quantum Circus played to 140 people at the Tempest Anderson Hall of the Yorkshire Museum in York last Sunday (Jan 2). About 50% of the attendees at the pantomime were children aged 11 and under. The pantomime consisted of songs and dance. Yvette (in the character of ‘Ellie’) answered questions from the audience after the show. Most of the questions were from the children and their questions made it very clear that they were understanding the quantum physics concepts from the ‘Ellie’ fairy story.

If you would like to book the ‘Ellie’ pantomime, then please contact Dr. Yvette Hancock (y.hancock@york.ac.uk).

Ellie the Electron and the Quantum Circus will come to life as a physics pantomime at

2.30 p.m. in the Tempest Anderson Hall of the Yorkshire Museum in York on Sunday 2 January 2011.

The play, written by Dr. Yvette Hancock (Department of Physics, University of York), is based on her children’s book, which covers quantum-physics concepts threaded through the exciting tale of an electron who becomes a star in Mr. Pauli’s Quantum Circus. The physics pantomime will be performed as part of the joint Yorkshire Philosophical Society and York Museums Trusts’ Christmas Family Lecture, and has been sponsored by the Yorkshire Branch. Children and adults who are young at heart are particularly welcome to attend this free event!
